The best place for pho! Very tasty! Service is lack luster but I know not to come here for refilling drinks, I'm here for the PHO!

  • *****

Best pho spot in modesto hands down. Been everywhere else. Always consistent quality and awesome flavor. The shrimp and pork egg rolls are also amazing..

  • *****

Been coming here for a while and the food is always great. Service is not the best but if you want the best pho come here. If you get a pho soup you can ask for spicy broth which gives an excellent kick to the dish.

This pho restaurant is the best hands down. I've been coming here for a while so I'm pretty much a regular. Whenever the owner sees me, he is always with "same thing" and I respond with an excited yes. I always get the rare steak pho and it's perfect for any occasion. The broth is so flavorful and the noddles are always cooked perfectly. When I am really hungry, I order some spring rolls with pork and shrimp and it always hits the spot. One of my good friends recommended this place and now I am recommending it to anyone who asks.

Hands down the best Pho place in Modesto! Been coming here for many many years! The staff is very respectful and kind. Coming from the Bay Area this is the place to go in Modesto for your pho cravings.

I was in modesto for just a brief minute and decided to look up a pho place since im originally from San Jose. . I yelped the nearest place and *Pho 7 Vietnamese Restaurant was the closest to me.. with very good ratings and reviews we decided to give this place a try. I ordered the clasdis rare steak rice noodle soup..and of course did not disappoint! It was delicious, fast and very courteous staff! Will definitely be returning

Consistent Vietnamese food. I like the nem nuong spring roll because of the way it's made you get the crunch from the fried crush egg roll skins which pairs well with the BBQ pork and fresh mint leaves.

  • *****

This place is delicious! I usually order the # 4, it's the rice noodle soup with well done steak. The broth is always fresh and the meat just right. If you're not in the mood for soup I'd try their combination fried rice or their shrimp tempura both of those items have great flavor that you can't find anywhere else in Modesto. The service is great and fast; the prices are fabulous. I eat here at least once a week. So enjoy!

  • *****

Awesome Pho!!! Can't wait until gets colder so I can have the soup more often. This is by far the best Pho in town

  • *****

This place is great I love it. It was my first time here and I think I will be coming back here more often. I have had Pho all over the world and I think this has to rank in the top 3 out of the places I have been all over the world. The place was really clean when we first walked in and we were kindly greeted by a really nice waiter who let us choose where we wanted to seat. There was quite a selection in drinks along with the many choices of Pho or any other Vietmanese dishes. We were brought our food and everything was perfect full of flavor. It was a great price too I think i could eat this stuff 3 times a week.

  • *****

Try the coconut shrimp. Huge prawns, fried to perfection!

  • *****

I usually go with the seafood soup and I am never dissapointed. Great portions and very delicious. I've tried the mongolian beef; however, I keep going back to the seafood soup. Oh and cream cheese wontons also a great appetizer.

Okay, I have been back to Pho 7, just in case my original review was off a bit -- it was accurate! This place is top notch. Even arriving after the lunch rush, the place was packed. I wasn't in the mood for Pho, but I did want some awesome food. As other have suggested, I got the #39 --- house special fried rice. OMFG! The chinese sausage and pork was awesome and the rice was flavorful and fluffy. It was not greasy and with the condiments on the table, I was able to add just the right amount of spice. The touch of fresh cilantro on top was a bonus. Who knew you could eat so good and healthy for under $8 bucks per meal? If you come to Pho 7, you can :) So you can be confident about the quality, come try it -- you will not be disappointed!

  • *****

I love this restaurant! Hole in the wall, cheap food and healthy! I always look at the menu, I don't know why because I always get the same thing everytime, Pho Dac Biet, or #1. For those of you who want a refreshing drink, try the Taro Pearl, it is sweet and to die for!

  • *****

Big phan of pho 7. Order the seafood combo soup, #16 I believe. Sprinkle some hot sauce, plum sauce, a few jalapenos and lime juice to enhance an already delicious culinary concoction. I have tried a few other items on the menu but always go back to the seafood soup, especially on a cold day. I have had better pho in the bay area and some questions could be raised about the location, but for Modesto, Pho 7 is legit.

  • *****

Pho is okay. I love the combo fried rice. Its the best.

  • *****

Food is very good for Modesto. Pho is almost comparable to the Bay. Just don't expect great service, but they will make you whatever you want. No veggie people can go here and go in daylight as it is not a great area.

  • *****

Good broth good meatballs and raw beef. Tendon was a little undercooked. Usual service. Will be back.

  • *****

The pho was amazing. I asked for extra sambal (the rooster chili sauce) and they gave me some to-go cups to fill up. I'm going back tonight!

  • *****

Perfect spot to have some delish pho on a cold day. The place is not in the best area nor is the shop the best looking but the food is amazing. We've been to other pho shops around modesto but we always come back to Pho 7.

  • *****

One of my favorite places to eat. Best shrimp and pork egg rolls in Modesto.

Coming back down from a weekend in Napa, I was feeling a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I had a gastronomical time up there but I was still missing something. About an hour into my drive, I had remembered, from a distant time of somewhat repressed memories, a Vietnamese restaurant where I had my first taste of pho. The first few times was a declaration of war among my mind and tastebuds, a flavor I despised even more than going to church on a Superbowl weekend. It was an illusional, delusional time that I wished I would encounter again. I wouldn't have had a clue as to where this fine establishment would be but luckily, I had my GPS to guide me to the closest decimeter of the exact location. I inputted "pho" and "modesto" in the machine and out chugged about 7 pho joints. I was clueless, they all sounded similar and they were all located on the either of the two main streets in Modesto... "McHenry" and "Carver." So I decided to play pho roulette and picked this place. If I thought I knew how good pho should taste, I would've hoped it to be of my first pho.

So it turned out that this place was indeed the right place except they had renovated the tiles and the tables. I even found out they even have a bathroom! So we both ordered pho and everything came out as planned except for a small aberration which was the lemon instead of lime. Now the only place I've seen this occur was in Korea where I had what we call in my standards "instant pho" flavor but people were putting down over 10 bucks a bowl in a nice ass sit down restaurant where all the waiters were in red vests and slacks. But I regress, the pho was absolutely dignifying. It was that bar that had been set but never toppled. It was the bliss of pure energy extruding from the fornication between Aphrodite and Bacchus. It was definitely a meal I will remember.

Merging back onto the highway, I came to the realization that I was finally leaving Nor-Cal, completely satisfied.

  • *****

I love this place! Is it fancy? NO. Is it in a nice neighborhood? NO. Are the waiters particularly friendly? NO .... But the food is awesome, and very ressonably priced! This is a hole in the wall , kinda place a little rough around the edges as some , might say. But , I love there food. I usually get the vegetable spring rolls, a super healthy alternative to fried spring rolls, that come with an amazing peanut dipping sauce. Other favorites of mine are the lemon grass chicken (num 33) and the sauteed vegetables with wide rice noodle's! Also, fyi, they deliver a surprisingly cold Corona complete, with frosted mug. So give this place a shot, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

  • *****

Many tasty dishes. My favorite is the chicken soup-minus the egg. The atmosphere is sterile, but the food makes up for it. You go here for the food, not the environment. The meals are a good value for the price. The food tastes fresh. Friendly owners. Enjoy!

  • *****

My gf turned turned me on to this place a few years ago and Ive been going ever since. Location wise its not the nicest but if your looking for good food they've got it. Ive tried several things on menu, my fav is spicy lemon grass chicken with white rice, spring rolls are good (they've changed peanut dipping sauce to a thinner version thankgod)) and the rice and noodle plates are pretty good. The guy that runs the register and dining area is harmless so dont let him scare you off. LOL He reminds me of the crazy uncle that you have to see every xmas hehe.

  • *****

    Nothing really to complain about.

Got the #3 on the menu and was some of the best pho i'd ever had. My soda was a bit flat, but that may have just been me.

Kind of hard to find unless you know you're going there, you wouldn't notice it that easily if you were just driving by it on the road.

Menu has a TON of choices (80+ if I remember right).

My family has been eating at Pho 7 for 10 years or more now and it's still our favorite in the area. To get more elaborate Vietnamese dishes it's still San Jose's Little Saigon, but the Pho here is as good or better than anywhere we've tried, with generous portions of the meats in a broth Pho 7 is very proud of. Plenty of fresh veg on the accompaniment plate and all the traditional condiments on the table. Everything we've tried, which is everything Vietnamese as opposed to the more mundane Chinese dishes, has been good. The spring rolls are easily up to San Jose standards, In summer, there are traditional and refreshing salads -- or there have been. Lotus root is a family favorite.

We've taken many friends and family members to Pho 7 and they've all become fans. The menu suited a fair sequence of our son's vegetarian friends in his bachelor days.

Tip: if you like the unctuous tendon and the crunchy tripe sliver in your pho, you can always get more. There seems to be a slight adaptation for Westerners -- these two tend to be at a minimum if a new person who doesn't know us is taking the order.

PS: There is a good Asian grocery across the street -- lots of fresh produce, condiments beyond your dreams, and huge freezer cases of fish.

  • *****

Pho 7 is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto. It's not the absolute best Vietnamese food I've ever had, but excellent for the Modesto area. (I worked in Asia for 20 years) I've also found the waitresses very friendly, and if not too crowded, quick to get my order. (try to avoid rush hour). I still work out of the country a lot, but even after returning months later, they always remember me, which is nice. Yes, the shopping center in not modern and a bit run down, but I go for the food!

  • *****

I had my first taste of vietnamese food in this restaurant! I absolutely thought the food was amazing! (though my friend, who's vietnamese and is from the bay area said that there are better Vietnamese restaurants in the bay and the food's just ok) The Pho I ordered and the vermicelli my friend got were delicious and had big portions. We also got their vietnamese drinks. I guess the place doesn't seem to be very welcoming, but it's fine. The food is really cheap.

  • *****

I like this place a lot. Their spring rolls and pho are awesome. It is a family owned establishment and they treat you well. The place is very old and does need some updating. The food is great that is a big reason I love it so much. My husband loves that there is a tv that he can always see the latest game.

  • *****

I have the pho here all the time, but I've also had the pork and shrimp rolls and the chicken with vegetables. All have been amazing! I've been to three other Vietnamese restaurants in Modesto and this place is by far my favorite. It's family run and the people remember their customers and are very nice. Their soda chanh (soda limeade) is amazing, as well! By far my favorite restaurant and I come here at least weekly.

  • *****

Location isn't the best and the place has gotten a bit rundown. ( parents used to own a store next to pho 7 and it was better back in the day ). Friends with the owner who is a good guy but not the best waiter Lol. Staff that are actually there are quite helpful however. Pho comes out great everytime and hasen't disappointed yet, they also have a nice selection of teas/desert drinks.

  • *****

This place is great! The selection of dishes on the menu is fantastic, great, quick service, the chow mein dishes here are very savory, and easily customizable.

The pho menu is also great, you can order it just about any way you can think of, the broth is always close to perfect, great restaurant!

  • *****

I go at least once a week! They know my usual order so my friend and I just sit and wait for our fresh delicious pho!

  • *****

Have to agree with Michael K. Ghetto location, but the food is excellent. Have been dining at Pho 7 for at least three years now and love their chicken salad.
Friendly service and always busy when I'm there.
    Great for take out.

  • *****

Ah this place is so good. I've always had friendly service and fresh, tasty food. Try the #29, it will change your life.

  • *****

this place is the bomb.com . great pho like home san jose, home of pho city.
very very good. I recommend this place to very one.

  • *****

I enjoyed the chicken ginger rice plate. There hot sauces weren't hot enough and the help was rude. I have tried other places in town and this one is not the worst. Decent food and poor location.

  • *****

Food is excellent! Not the fanciest of places but definitely great food and service is fast.

  • *****

There's an age old proverb: "The more ghetto the location, the better the Pho"

This definitely holds true for this place! This is some of my favorite pho in Modesto. You can't go wrong with the combination, or the chicken. The spring rolls are good as well. As it turns out, one of my favorite things here is the coconut water (literally water with huge chunks of coconut in it).

Theres not much more to it than that. This is a great place to get pho, and I would really recommend it.

  • *****

The pho was awesome!!! :) Very delicious! But the place is very stuffy and hot! Which made it really hard to enjoy their delicious soup :(

  • *****

I really love this place. The man who owns the place is very friendly. I come here whenever I get the chance. Especially since this is my boyfriends childhood place. I always get the number 1 because it has everything in the pho. I recommend going to this place.

  • *****

Oh, man. This place was recommended to me by an old coworker. Looking at its fairly downtrodden shopping center and not-exactly-nice tables, I knew I was in for something great or disgusting. The best ethnic places are the most run down and this place doesn't disappoint. The pho is SO good. The pho is so good that my friends will literally bring me here when I'm having a bad day, wait for me to get a few bites in of my pho, and ask me if I feel better. I always do. I've had pho aplenty, here there and everywhere. This pho is the best pho. I've had my pho with steak, with tendon, with quail egg and pork. I will have my pho in every way until there is a Dr. Suess book documenting my pho adventures.

But enough about the pho, they have other stuff.. that I tried off the plates of my friends (because I always get the pho..). The noodle dishes (#49 specifically, if i recall correctly) are delicious. The thai iced tea is always wonderful. The iced coffee I'm not really a fan of, but I wouldn't say there's anything fundamentally wrong with it. The spring rolls are really good, but for the amount of pho you get (which does not keep well the next day at all) I never get them.

  • *****

Surprisingly great. I ate a spoonful of sirracha though which was not smart.
Try the thai tea. Its really nice but dont get those dumb bubble stuff in it cause they suck.
The number 7 on the menu is delicious.
    Awesome find.

Pho 7 has always been my go-to place in Modesto for pho. The various options in Modesto don't differ much in the way of flavor, but what Pho 7 lacks in uniqueness it makes up for with convenience and variety.

The menu is rather large, although I admittedly haven't tried anything here besides the pho and the mongolian beef. However, if you're going with someone who's weary of trying the soup, they should have no problem finding something else on the menu that they'll enjoy.

The service here, like any other pho house, is minimal, but that's how it should be. With that in mind, they have always been quick to take my order and will provide anything extra that you ask for without any fuss.

Pho 7 may not be revolutionary, but it's a solid, reliable option which has always kept me coming back.

  • *****

IMO, this is the best Pho in Modesto. Of course, it's a shithole place in a run-down strip mall. The interior is shabby and the kitchen would make Gordon Ramsey fly into a expletive-spewing rage.

However the Pho is excellent, the portions large, and the spring/shrimp rolls are always fresh. The soup bowls are so frigging huge you could actually backstroke within the bowl. For 7 bucks it's a helluva meal.

It's also served by traditional, non-emotional, un-engaging Vietnamese folks so there's that. At least it's authentic.

If you aren't an uppity rich white person, check this place out.

Oh yeah, like most restaurants in Modesto, this place closes EARLY. Like 8pm on a Friday night.

    /shrug

This is my favorite place to eat Pho. They also have the best spring rolls and stir fry. All of the food is great.

  • *****

First time here and we were pleasantly surprised. PORK and WONTON noodle soups we had were good and had lots of pork and wonton. Price was quite reasonable too. $32 for two included 4 awesome pork & shrimp eggrolls, 2 nearly 3 cup each noodle soups and 2 imported beers. Neighvorhood it is located is not the best. We will go again

  • *****

I love this place. Right down the street from my house. Friendly people even tho it's hard to understand what they say. I come here a few times a week. Also they have great prices

  • *****

We freaking love this place we've been coming here for years always get treated great the staff is wonderful the food is amazing spring rolls with the number one is our go to!!!
On a diet try some goalie in beef with rice.
Respect not enough stars to give

  • *****

    Amazing!

  • *****

This place is awesome besides the fact that they are closed on Mondays. I've known the owner, David, for almost my whole life. They make really great food. I normally go for their spicy won ton noodle soup with spring vegetables. My whole family gets different variants of the won ton noodle soup: tofu, vegetables, no onions, etc. For a family type appetizer, I would suggest their chicken salad where it comes with a big chip that you break off and dip/pick up the salad and eat by hand.

  • *****

Absolutely the best Pho I've had in the U.S.! The chicken was very fresh and the flavoring was perfect and not over done, so I could add the nice Vietnamese chilly sauce to my liking. The spring rolls were rapped perfectly and the pork filling was great. The service was friendly and constant with smiles and helpful assistance. The MOST amazing thing was an illustrated explanation about the different kinds of noodles and wraps they use right in the menu. I'll definitely be stopping in when ever I drive through town. AND, the price is VERY reasonable too... Much better than L.A. or S.F.

  • *****

The resturant was very clean and the pho was amazing! Will definitely be back for more!

  • *****

Best place in town for pho, also have great pork fried rice, chow mein and Mongolian beef. Great food ok prices ok customer service...

  • *****

Sure the customer service isn't great and the owners can be a little more personable. That being said, the food is great and the pho is very flavorable. Not a nice looking establishment is a shady area but a nice place for lunch or takeout

  • *****

Had my first taste of this place a while back. I've only had their combination fried rice, and pork egg rolls. Both are delicious. The fish sauce goes great with the egg rolls, but it's good by itself too.

Never ate there, always had it pre ordered and picked up. (Lunch during work)

  • *****

    Best Pho in Modesto
Good friendly service. Cheap prices and the portions are pretty good. they don't rush you so you can go and just hang out and take your time eating.

  • *****

    good restaurant
This restaurant isn't the nicest area in town and the building is pretty shabby but the food is pretty good. They give you plenty of food and the prices are cheap. I recommend one of their drinks with the little balls in them

  • *****

Food wasn't good but maybe the vietnamese noodles are.
Went there and ordered the chinese food. It wasn't very good. Didn't try the vietnamese noodles and considering that is their name, maybe they don't know how to do chinese food. Anyway, not the cleanest either. They do have a bit of a language issue. Don't think I will try it again.

  • *****

    Fantastic!
This is the best Pho I've found in Modesto, without a doubt. Yeah, the place is in a grungy strip mall in the hood, BUT, the restaurant itself is very clean, the staff accommodating, and the food was very fresh and tasty. The vegetables were crunchy, and the broth was flavorful. I ordered Pho with tofu and noodles, which wasn't on the menu, but they had no problem whipping up a bowl for me. Definitely try it! (go check out the Asian market in the same mall, too. It's really cool)

  • *****

This place is awesome besides the fact that they are closed on Wednesdays.

  • *****

I've been here several times over the past few months. Pho is yummy, and service has always been good. The only thing that can be improved is the decor; the place is a bit dingy and is in a sad strip mall, containing a nail salon called "Clawz". Yes. Spelled with a 'z'. It doesn't bug me too much because I'm too busy shoving food in my face to notice.

  • *****

Waitress was awesome! Good prices and great food. Will return soon.

  • *****

I have been worried about trying this place due to location looking a bit yucky. But came on here, saw some good reviews and am so happy we did. I have tried 4 other pho places in Modesto. 2 were horrible. 1 downtown and this one are far superior. Great Tai. Good pork chops. Generous amounts of food. The broth and freshness of meat were perfect. Yes they don't speak GREAT English, but I'm patient and it didn't bother me. I came here expecting "ok" food. But was very happy! Definite repeat! Price was great. I have 4 kids we ate for less than $40 + tip of course!
And the place was clean, so don't let the neighborhood scare you off!

  • *****

The food is delicious, the wait time is minimal, & the service meets expectations. I enjoyed eating here; however, next time I think I'll order my meal to-go.

I suggest you give it a shot if you are hungry:)

  • *****

Great food. Pho pork egg rolls and spicy beef plate. Tip clean environment with a/c so wear sweater or order spicy food. :)

  • *****

Hands down my favorite Vietnamese restaurant! Authentic, reasonable prices and quick service. Spicy Lemon grass beef is DELICOUS!

  • *****

I've eaten here for year, the food is great. I especially like the mocha pearl drink. Don't be discouraged by the area, you will not get shot. As for price, you can't really beat 5.99-7.99 for a meal, fast food cost more.

  • *****

Everyone they have been closed for two months. This recent Tuesday they're reopen! Come on by I just had some yummy wonton! It looks like they just had a face lift with new menus

  • *****

Most flavorful Pho I can find in Modesto, they do not give you a whole lot of noodles or meat so I guess it is quality over quantity, very reasonable prices, probably not the type of place you want to take a date the restaurant is kind of dingy and gross. But the food certainly makes up for it

  • *****

Not my favorite pho but still delicious, I actually don't go for that, I love three things here! The spicy lemon grass chicken, spring rolls, and the noodle salad bowl. Everything is fresh and tasty. I live in the area so I've had many opportunities to try different things.

  • *****

Best BBQ pork fried rice it has so much flavor that no side is needed . I'm always taking family members and friends to try it out because I want to share this this every one
